About Us

Our Story

In 2005, Brian Cook founded Bag Works Inc., now BWI-Acme Enterprises Ltd., to keep a trusted, local source of bulk bags and industrial packaging in Western Canada. Today the business is run by the next generation, and is one of the last bulk bag manufacturers in Canada.

Where it started

Built on Integrity Since 2005

Trimeg Holdings, a Calgary FIBC manufacturer, had produced bulk bags locally since the late 1980s. Brian Cook spent much of his career there. When Trimeg struggled to compete with offshore manufacturers during globalization in the 1990s, it failed to meet its financial requirements to its lenders and employees, and by 2008 it had closed its doors, unable to compete with offshore production.

Rather than let Western Canada lose a trusted source of industrial packaging manufacturing, Brian stepped forward. He launched BWI with a commitment to reliability, integrity and local manufacturing, producing and importing bags for mining, food processing, hazardous waste and other industries. That reputation for quality and service still defines us.
